As some followers may be aware, finding Lucas reading just about anywhere, anytime, has been pretty commonplace for sometime now. However, walking into a room and seeing Josh in quiet focus whilst reading is not as common. Josh has always enjoyed being read to and has gone in waves of interest in reading, but it has been a different process than with Lucas. Lately, a scene like this is much more likely. Josh is feeling good about books and is showing an interest in chapter books, comic books, small mini books and going to the bookstore as often as possible. It has been a joy to watch him smile with pride and satisfaction when he announces he has finished a book that he has chosen to read. It is extremely gratifying to me to see his personal interest and motivation lead to progress, questioning and success! His path has taught me about the importance of acceptance and trust on this lifelong learning journey we are on...
