Visit to Guelph Lake

So, Jeff and I tied the canoe to the roof of the truck and off we went to Guelph Lake. Lots of people have been telling us we should canoe there. Despite the possibility of rain and the windier conditions than I would normally like, we went.

On this day, we noted how big the conservation area was in comparison to some of the others in the area. Everything was very green with a big lake, an island and beaches . While it was quite nice there, it was otherwise nondescript-as in, not a lot stood out strong and gave us that ooo-ahhh factor. Perhaps, it's because I've fallen in love with Rockwood and Crawford...other places just don't seem to compare! :)

However, we didn't have to worry about our canoe hitting bottom and could see the boys would have yet another place to fish. The trail we went on was also quite picturesque with trilliums dotting the forest floor and a little creek with a bridge.

Due to all the rain, many areas were quite full and sometimes overflowing into one another. So, we did get a little wet.

I'm looking forward to checking Guelph Lake Conservation Area out at different times of year. Perhaps in the summer to try the beach and in the fall to see the colours change.

A Day With My First Born

What a glorious spring day...finally some major sun with perfect white billowy clouds and a pure blue backdrop... did you here me say FINALLY! did you hear me say SUN?

So few and far between these days are...

I feel fortunate to have had a day alone with Lucas and the dogs. It's not often that I get a large amount of one on one time with any of the boys as we are most always altogether or at least in the vicinity of one another.

Josh and Matt enjoyed a great day with their friends. Lucas and I enjoyed the silence and sunshine and a walk at Rockwood.

We were surprised to see such a difference in the landscape at Rockwood. With all this rain we have had, many areas were washed out. Even our beloved geese families were rather displaced, yet happily swimming.

The rock formations were notably cold and dripping wet with water...

For the rest of our day, we enjoyed ice cream, napping outside listening to and watching the birds, sharing a Stuart Mac Lean story and much more yummy food.

Lucas's allergies were acting up, so we also had cold compresses and eucalyptus oil for sniffing...

I must say, having fewer nice days, does make me appreciate the wonderful weather we had today and will likely make me savour all the other sunny days to come that much more.

Daffodil Trail

We have really been enjoying our Wednesday Hike Group.

What I like most about it, is a sense of calm I feel within the settings we walk in as well as the people we walk with.

There is no real agenda but to be in nature with people who enjoy the same.

Come if you wish one week, don't if you can't another.

See new places and return to familiar faves.

Sometimes, the weather has not cooperated, but we look forward to the sun in the summer that will hopefully add swimming and picnics to our hikes.

This trail was enjoyable as daffodils dot its path. We saw turtles and quiet places to be and great trees to climb.

A Day In The City

This is my kind of day in the city. Gorgeous weather, meeting our newest family member Caden Thomas, seeing my cousin and her husband, May flowers on University Ave., and a bag piper playing on the street, reminding me of my Grandma and why I used to love this place where I was born. The craziness of the traffic, pollution and crowds were drowned out by the warm sunshine, magnolias and new life!

We are so happy to welcome little baby Caden into our family. He is the luckiest boy around, having parents like Heather and Barrett. Congrats to you all!
