Lilacs
On Mother's Day we think of our own moms, our friends who are moms, moms around the world, single moms, being moms ourselves-if we are so lucky... But, we also think of Grandmoms! Grandmoms are a very special part of our lives and our children's lives and we love and appreciate them for their unconditional love, generosity and wisdom. Even when they are gone, they make an impact on us.
When we stepped onto the Gondola on Mother's Day, I found this single branch of lilac flowers. It was significant to me as my late Grandmother Goodman loved lilacs, as do I. Every year when they come out, I think of her and remember all the amazing and fun-loving times we had when I was a child. It was such an odd place to find this little lilac, but I couldn't help but think of it as a little sign and reminder that she was with me somehow. She once asked me not to forget her, and I never have....
