This blog contains pics from Lucas's 11th Birthday events! We had a fun-filled day that started in La Jolla with our friends...checking out the seals at 'The Children's Pool'. This is a spot where the seals remain protected and the public can view them in their natural habitat and observe their behaviour. We saw them shuffle along to the water to swim, rooolllll on over to sun their other sides :), 'kiss' and play. One seal in particular was quite adorable, can you see him looking at us in the picture? He stretched and rolled about...quite a 'ham'. Needless to say, the view was breathtaking and we really enjoyed taking it all in. Josh bought Lucas a key chain with a seal picture on it for his birthday. Lucas has been collecting key chains everywhere we go. Josh also donated change towards the cause of continuing to protect the seals. Lucas was ever so grateful.
We saw our first Californian Surfer Dude...loads of waves, birds, tourists and health conscious joggers. Apparently, about 100, 000 people visit this seal spot every month!
Later, we stopped off at Oceanside to check out a potential resort. The kids puddled in the waves... Then, we went home after lunch and the boyz swam with their Dad and played at the park. Finally, we ended our day with a visit to San Diego's, 'Cheesecake Factory' for dinner. As many of you know, cheesecake is Lucas's absolute favourite dessert. We sauntered through an outdoor mall with upscale stores and palm trees lit up along their trunks for Christmas. Dinner was great! Lucas enjoyed his cake plus part of Jeff's after he had centre stage with the staff singing Happy Birthday to him.
All in all, it was an extremely memorable day we are all thankful for!
