Today we woke up to Jeff saying, 'wow, you should see the snow on those mountains' ... as he returned from taking Willow outside. We were all quite surprised. However, the day before rained continuously all day and it was cooler than normal in the evening. People here were thankful for the rain although not so thrilled about the cold temps.
We all wanted to get closer to the snowy mountains, so when we dropped Jeff off at work, he asked his new Californian colleagues directions to a good spot to see an unobstructed view. They're called Saddleback Mountains and it took us about a half an hour to drive to Mountain View Park to get up close and personal. It was indeed a beautiful view. I have heard a whisper that there may be snow even here sometime... but the person who told me, mentioned that once it snowed somewhere nearby for 10 minutes straight- I'm thinkin' woop-de-doo- can you say 30 cm of snow on top of 20 cm, in minus colder than cold windchill temperatures-now that's some snow and cold! The kids were excited to see some evidence of Christmas as they know it. When we came home, we went back to the Ecological Reserve and saw hawks and multiple blue herons among other birds...gorgeous day for a walk there... In the afternoon, the kids went swimming and then made a Christmas craft at the Clubhouse. The evening brought us Daddy at 5 p.m.!, outdoor Christmas lights galore outside of churches and on boats, last minute gift buying, Star Wars Cartoons cuddled with Daddy on the big bed and a pizza for a late dinner... Some days you just live right... :)

*A thought I was pondering today: How much does a child's bladder dictate the course of your day? We could all learn the lesson that life cannot be controlled by the amount of times a small child will need to use the washroom in the least convenient moments especially while traveling in unfamiliar places nowhere near an available washroom right when you reach your destination! All I can say is, "thank goodness for little boys."
