time, peace and compassion

well, it's been a while since i've posted.

for some reason, i can't effectively upload my photos here at the moment which seems to affect updating our blog.:( so, here i am writing only-no images to go with....

i was surprised to see i only had one entry for may! that's not like me!

now, we are approaching the middle of june and i can't believe it!

we have beens spending our time with friends and family, outside, swimming, reading, creating, selling, volunteering, organizing, playing and so on.

many changes are taking place and are around the corner...some filled with excitement and anticipation and some that you have to just trust and accept and make the most of...there is a time and place for everything and embracing it all- whether it be challenging or smooth- is an art i'm feeling my way through...

the message coming through loud and clear of late is to live fully and JOYfully in the present-as NOW is all that there really is... not dwelling in the past or constantly looking to the future- just NOW!

in addition to that and equally compelling is having a sense of COMPASSION ... knowing intrinsically that those challenging moments are happening for a reason, seeing that and having empathy and understanding helps to foster calm, peaceful energy rather than negative.

learning and applying these lessons are two different things... it sounds great philosophically, but when it comes to day to day living-it isn't always as easy as it sounds.

so for now, i look at matt's freckles a little longer while he sleeps, belt out songs loudly as we drive, notice dew drops on poppy petals, hug and kiss my family and friends as much as they'll let me, breathe deeper when tensions run high and try not to get sucked in but remain calm, savour the taste of fresh strawberries, stop and feel how warm the sun is, really pay attention when holding the hand of my grandpa-lock the memory in my heart and be totally aware of the wonders of the cycle of life as i do so.

You sound like me! I've been trying to apply this as well, but it's not easy some days. And the longer I stay away from the constant reminder with the research of it the farther I wander from that path. Good luck to you.

I wanted to chat with you on email. We are considering hitting the road and roadschooing full time in a motorhome. You've done it and we are nervous. It'd be nice to bounce our ideas off of someone Canadian like us.
